DAY 01 AIRPORT – BENTOTA<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Arrive in Sri Lanka. Clients will be met by our representative on arrival and transferred to Bentota.<\/strong>

DAY 02 BENTOTA \u2013 UDAWALAWE NATIONAL PARK\u00a0SAFARI<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

After breakfast leave for the visit Udawalawe National Park\u00a0&amp; Udawalawe Elephant Transit<\/strong>
\nHome.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home<\/strong>. The main objective of this facility is the rehabilitation of
\norphaned baby elephants to ultimately release them back into their natural habitat. Up to three
\nelephants per week are killed in Sri Lanka due to conflicts with humans, often leaving behind
\norphan calves. The elephants are kept at part of the Udawalawe National Park to maintain
\nfamiliarity with their habitat but have access to both food and medical care. All care at the facility is
\nby trained staff, and efforts are made to minimize contact between elephants and humans to keep
\nthe elephants from becoming acclimated to humans. Although visitors can watch the elephants
\nbeing fed, they are not allowed to touch or otherwise interact with them. Afternoon commence a
\nJeep Safari in Udawalawe National Park.<\/p>\n

Udawalawe National Park\u00a0<\/strong>lies on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, in Sri
\nLanka. The National Park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the
\nconstruction of the Udawalawe reservoir on the Walawe River, as well as to protect the catchment
\nof the reservoir. The reserve covers 30,821 hectares of land area and was established on 30 June
\n1972. The park is 165 kilometres from Colombo. Udawalawe is an important habitat for water birds
\nand Sri Lankan Elephants. It is a popular tourist destination and the third most visited park in the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n

DAY 03 UDAWALAWE \u2013YALA NATIONAL PARK<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

After breakfast leave for the safari to Yala National Park by jeeps.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yala National Park<\/strong> \u2013 is an important national park in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka.
\nThis popular reserve has more than 400 wild Asian Elephants, which are relatively easy to see in
\nthis open habitat. Yala also has a dozen or so Leopards, although seeing this largely nocturnal
\ncarnivore requires considerable luck. There are good numbers of Crocodiles, Golden Jackals,
\nWater Buffalo, and Grey Langurs amongst other large animals. The open parkland attracts birds of
\nprey such as White-bellied Sea Eagle Crested Serpent Eagle, Fish Eagle Booted eagle,
\nChangeable Hawk Eagle, and the wetlands have waders and Painted Storks. Land birds are in
\nabundance, and include Indian Roller, Indian Peafowl, Malabar Pied Hornbill.<\/p>\n

DAY 04 TISSAMAHARAMA – BUNDALA NATIONAL PARK \u2013 BENTOTA<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

05 am or after breakfast leave for to Bundala National Park by jeep<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bundala National Park<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 250 km from Colombo on the Colombo Tissa road. This was declared as
\na sanctuary on 5.12.1969 and upgraded as a National Park later. Only 24sq. miles in extent. Easily
\naccessible through the wild animal the population is limited. This is famous for large flocks of birds,
\nespecially the migrant Flamingoes, Ducks and Wades, and birds like Pelicans, Painted Storks,
\nWhite-necked Storks, Black-necked Storks, Cormorants, and other aquatic birds. After the
\nBundala National Park safari Leave for Bentota in the afternoon at leisure.<\/p>\n

DAY 05 BENTOTA – SINHARAJA TREKKING – BENTOTA<\/h4>\n

05 am or after breakfast trekking in the Sinharaja Rainforest.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sinharaja Forest<\/strong>\u00a0Reserve is a national park and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of
\ninternational significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site
\nby UNESCO. The hilly virgin rainforest, part of the Sri Lanka lowland rain forests ecoregion, was
\nsaved from the worst of commercial logging by its inaccessibility and was designated a World
\nBiosphere Reserve in 1978 and a World Heritage Site in 1988. The reserve\u2019s name translates as
\nKingdom of the Lion. Thereafter Leave for Bentota in the afternoon at leisure.<\/p>\n
